Golf: At the resort, you are not far from some excellent golf courses in Cancun toward the north, and southward to Playa del Carmen. Some of the courses are available throughout the state of Quintana Roo are Playacar Golf Club, Puerto Aventuras, Pok Ta Pok, Cozumel Country Club, Melia Cancun Golf Club, and Cancun Oasis Golf Club. All levels of skill will be challenged, and the stunning scenery and beauty of these courses are on par with some of Mexico's top courses.
Pools: There are two pools at the hotel - the larger free-form pool features activities, waterfalls, in-water lounge chars, and swim-up bar. The smaller pool is located in a quiet adults-only area and features relaxing music, lounge beds, and a large Jacuzzi.
Diving and Snorkeling: Snorkeling close to the resort is possible - vacationers can go to the protected Puerto Morelos National Reef Park. Nicknamed La Joya del Caribe (Jewel of the Caribbean), the marine park is renowned for its pristine beaches and vibrant coral reefs less than 550 yards (500 meters) from shore. And in just 40 minutes by ferry you can be in Cozumel. The coastal waters of Cozumel have superb visibility, and the seafloor is full of colorful coral and many species of marine life. Dive masters allow you and other scuba divers to choose your reef, depending on your experience level. Novices will enjoy Paradise Reef for the many shallow patch reefs, large brain coral, sea fans and sponges. Intermediate divers may try Palancar Caves or Columbia Wall and encounter big grouper, playful green moray eels, eagle rays, and turtles. For the very experienced, Maracaibo Deep and Barracuda Reef are riveting, where giant orange elephant ear sponges, black coral, large schools of fish, turtles, rays, and even hammerhead sharks may be spotted.
Water Sports: Enjoy windsurfing, hobie cats, kayaks and boogie boards at the resort. Motorized equipment is available by third party tour providers. Check with the hotel concierge for details.
Beach: The beach at the resort is long and wide, and perfect for swimming, with calm surf and warm waters.
State-of-the-Art Marina: In operation next to the resort site is the Marina El Cid Cancun, a modern full-service marina offering sailing, day cruises, snorkeling and diving excursions, and ecological tours. In addition to its restaurant, the full-service marina offers dive shop, sport fishing fleet, weather services, mini-supermarket, hardware and bait and tackle shops, and more. The marina can hold 120 vessels from 25 - 120 feet in length. Boats from around the world give the yacht club a cosmopolitan flair.
Fitness Center: The Marina El Cid features a state-of-the-art gym with a spinning room, treadmills, elliptical machines, mountain machines, bicycles, and weight training equipment. The gym also offers a variety of classes including spinning, yoga, pilates, tai chi, tae-bo, and cardio salsa. Open daily from 7:00am - 9:00pm. Proper workout attire must be worn. Minimum age for the fitness center is 16 years old.
Tennis: The resort has two tennis courts.
Shopping: There is a small boutique inside the hotel for basic needs, gifts and souvenirs. Enjoy a complete shopping experience when you visit nearby Cancun, Puerto Morelos, and Playa del Carmen.
